Congratulations to Samuel Thompson who has won the inaugural Kairūri Community Trust Stirling Scholarship for 2023. Sam is a fourth-year student at Otago University studying a Bachelor of Surveying with honours.
The scholarship included a $2500 cash prize plus support to attend the Annual Survey and Spatial NZ conference held in Dunedin a few weeks ago. At the conference Sam got the opportunity to share his wonderful submission titled “The Impact of Artificial Intelligence on the Surveying and Spatial Industry”.
The scholarship has been made possible by the Stirling family through a generous donation from the Ian and Margaret Stirling Fund in 2021. The purpose of the fund is to provide scholarships/grants to support those individuals’ seeking careers or further education in the survey and spatial sectors and for those who have financial or other barriers to pursuing tertiary education.
A big congratulations Sam!
